"An example of how we can do business by valuing the demands of entrepreneurs, on the other hand social responsibility for the benefit of the community: a valuable model to export". This is how the Ambassador of Colombia, Gloria Isabel Ramirez, defined the district of Santa Croce sull’Arno, during her visit to the district, which took place few days ago.
In the first three months of her experience as Ambassador in Italy, officially opened by the meeting with the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, Gloria Isabel Ramirez was enthusiastic to discover the structure and dynamics of the tanning district. She wishes to create business opportunities and an open dialogue between Italy and Colombia. Her first virtual contact with Tuscan leather tanning was at the event “Emozione Pelle” in Florence. Only later Ambassador Ramirez has visited the Associazione Conciatori and the Tannery BCN, where its owners Roberto and Renzo Lupi have welcomed her. Ambassador Ramirez took many inspiring notes in a perfect “reporting style”, deriving from her experience as reporter for the most important Columbian newspapers.
The ambassador was welcomed by the director of Associazione Conciatori, Piero Maccanti, for a cross-section between the past and the future of the district, with a focus on the implementation of future resources in this sector, an opportunity to develop new discussion tables.
